Volunteering at the Museum
Batemans Bay Heritage Museum is almost entirely run by volunteers. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and contribute to every aspect of running the Museum.

Whether you have skills you would like to share, want to learn something new, or just want to get to know some new people while giving back to the community, we would love to chat to you about joining the volunteer team at the Museum.
As a volunteer you can be involved in a large variety of tasks:
-
Collection care: learn about preventative conservation, cleaning, storing and cataloguing artefacts while caring for the Museum's collection.
-
Education: provide guided tours for visitors and participate in outreach activities.
-
Exhibition curation: learn how to create museum exhibitions, from small displays to large shows.
-
Promotion: help create and implement strategies and materials to promote the Museum and increase awareness of our services and activities in the community.
-
Fund raising: learn to write grant applications, liaise with local business, members and patrons.
-
Event organisation: Help organise exhibition launches, talks and workshops, from liaising with speakers to organising and serving refreshments.
-
Front of house: staff our front desk and book shop, and welcome visitors.
-
Office management: help with the day to day running of the Museum operations, for example rostering, ordering office supplies, and liaising with suppliers.
-
Grounds maintenance: assist with keeping the Museum grounds, mowing the lawns and tending the gardens.
-
Facilities maintenance: help fixing things around the Museum buildings and grounds, or put your creative carpentry skills to work creating props and displays for the Museum's displays.
